About

Is It Warm compares today's temperature to the 30-year historical average for your location. Instead of just showing you the forecast, it answers a simple question: is it warmer or colder than usual for this time of year?

How it works

We take today's temperature and compare it against the average for the same date over the past 30 years, using data from Open-Meteo. The result tells you whether today is normal, slightly unusual, or significantly different from what's typical. We also show related metrics like how the past week compared to normal, a 7-day forecast outlook, and historical rankings — all with the same focus on how today compares to the past.

What counts as "normal"

In meteorology, "normal" usually refers to a 30-year average over fixed periods like 1991–2020, often based on monthly averages. We take a simpler, more day-specific approach: we average the same date (±3 days) across the past 30 rolling years. It's less formal, but it gives you a more intuitive feel for whether today actually stands out.
